ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST                    

Wallace-Kuhl & Associates is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Engineering geologist for immediate employment in our West Sacramento office. Qualified candidates must have proven track record in geologic, seismologic, and geologic hazards studies for schools, hospitals and other essential facilities. Experience in environmental studies including naturally occurring asbestos, metals, and anthropogenic contaminants is a plus. The successful candidate shall have experience in preparing reports conforming to California Geological Survey Note 48. The Engineering Geologist shall be able to field identify and identify construction mitigation measures for active and inactive landslides, groundwater seeps, and geologic bedding conditions that may adversely affect construction. Additional experience in Human Health Risk Assessments, Hydrogeologic studies, and regulatory compliance is an advantage. The position requires excellent written communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to prepare proposals, reports of findings, project budget estimates and complete field investigations with limited supervision. The successful candidate shall have excellent oral communication skills and shall be responsible for completing routine client communications. Proficiency in computer programs including Word and Excel is required.

                   

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, geotechnical engineering with 5 to 10 years of experience in a related field, possession of a Master of Science degree is preferred.
  • Possess Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist licensure in California.
  • Possess experience in interpreting compliance with Federal, California and County Regulations regarding geologic, geotechnical and environmental studies.
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain within areas of hazards such as heavy equipment operating or steep drops during all climate conditions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor others.
Job Description

 

  • Prepare Geologic and Seismic Hazard Reports according to requirements of California Geologic Survey. Prepare California Geologic Survey Note 48 compliant reports.
  • Research, locate and review previously published geologic maps and reports.
  • Conduct field studies to map geologic materials and interpret geologic structure.
  • Plan and perform field activities related to geologic, geotechnical and environmental investigations with limited supervision.
  • Interpret geologic conditions using geophysical and geologic data collected from test borings and surface arrays.
  • Independently apply knowledge of drilling methodologies to solve field difficulties.
  • Independently perform fault classification based on published data or field data.
  • Independently perform data evaluations using statistical methods and visual methods to identify outlier datum.
  • Accurately describe soil using the Unified Soil Classification System and geologic and engineering nomenclature.
  • Interpret regulation and regulatory agency correspondence as the relate to project specific issues.
  • Independently prepare technical reports including: geologic hazard study reports, environmental reports of findings, and geotechnical reports of findings.

PROJECT GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

 

 Wallace-Kuhl & Associatesis currently seeking a full-time Project Engineer to provide supervision and engineering oversight of laboratory, field testing and materials special inspection services at our Stockton office.  Position also includes oversight of geotechnical investigations as well as special projects, including existing structure evaluations; forensics for soils, structures and materials; and the occasional off-the-wall testing requests.  

 

 Required Qualifications:

  •  B.S. in Civil Engineering required, Master’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • California PE registration required, GE preferred.
  • Five or more years’ experience in inspection and testing of construction activities and materials used in construction, including soils, concrete, asphalt concrete, masonry and steel.
  • Project experience in California preferred, including projects under DSA and OSHPD jurisdiction.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles in a wide variety of applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple clients.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Marketing, proposal preparation and administrative duties are included in the position.
  • Familiarity with various national and state test methods, regulatory agencies and building codes

HYDROGEOLOGIST

Wallace-Kuhl & Associates is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Hydrogeologist for immediate employment in our West Sacramento office. Qualified candidates must have a proven track record in hyrogeologic studies. Experience must include naturally occurring asbestos studies and fate and transport studies of metals and anthropogenic contaminants in soil and groundwater. The successful candidate shall have experience in complying with County, State and Federal regulations. The Hydrogeologist shall be able to field identify aquifers penetrated by drilling and trenching activities and to prepare maps illustrating the presence of groundwater seeps and geologic bedding conditions that may be indicative of aquifer boundaries. Experience in performing Human Health Risk Assessments is an advantage. The position requires excellent written communication skills. Candidate's ability to use computer modeling programs such as RISC© is an advantage.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering or related field.
  • Possession of Professional Geologist or Engineer licensure in California.
  • Possess experience to interpret Federal, California and County Regulations regarding chemicals in environmental matrices.
  • Must possess current Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training certificate and pass the physical requirements for this position.

WELDING INSPECTOR

Wallace-Kuhl & Associates is searching for qualified personnel with ICC Structural Bolting, Reinforced Concrete, Reinforced Masonry, Post Tension Concrete and DSA Masonry certifications and Certified Welding Inspectors with UT Level II certifications for our West Sacramento and Stockton offices.

Responsibilities will include performing a variety of Special Inspections as certified by ICC and Structural Steel inspections including visual and nondestructive testing. Technician must have the ability to read construction plans and specifications, the ability to understand construction procedures and knowledge of Standard Codes. Technician must be able to work safely in a construction environment. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Certification Requirements: Applicants must have ICC and / or be an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and Non-Destructive Testing (UT) Level II. In addition, Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Testing (MT), and Visual Testing (VT) Level I are beneficial.

EARTHWORK TECHNICIAN
Wallace-Kuhl & Associates is seeking an experienced earthwork tecnician to perform site observations and testing for utility trench backfill, grading operations, excavations and foundation construction.
                   
Technicians will collect samples and perform tests to monitor compliance with construction specifications. The position will also include laboratory testing, such as compaction curves, moisture contents, Atterberg Limits and miscellaneous other lab tests. The job will entail the preparation of daily field reports documenting observations and testing at job sites, frequent communication with Project Engineers and frequent travel to job sites daily. A company vehicle will be available for your use.

The successful candidate should have several years of construction experience and be nuclear gauge certified. Clean DMV report a must.
