Wallace-Kuhl & Associates was originally formed as a geotechnical engineering practice with the intent of building upon the many years of combined geotechnical experience of our three founding principals. Although this is our oldest department, we have constantly kept abreast of new developments in the field through seminars, organizational memberships, technical literature, and hiring of exceptional young engineers with graduate degrees.
Company growth has been constant as WKA continually adds new areas of practice and capabilities within existing departments. Even so, geotechnical engineering continues to be a key element in our service to the Northern California construction community.

WKA's personnel have had extensive geotechnical involvement in the development of mid to high-rise structures. Since 1984, WKA personnel have performed site investigations for over 50 heavy, pile-supported structures within the 364 block area that defines downtown Sacramento. More than a dozen of those buildings presented geotechnical challenges regarding bearing capacity, excavation conditions, ground water control and protection of adjacent fragile and historic buildings.
WKA understands that successful geotechnical engineering demands innovation - from the materials we use to the way we think. That is why we are continually striving to develop new concepts and find better and more efficient ways to solve our clients' problems.
