Dennis Nakamoto
SENIOR HYDROGEOLOGIST 
 

Mr. Nakamoto has been employed in the field of environmental consulting since 1978.  Mr. Nakamoto’s 31 years environmental consulting includes groundwater studies, site characterization studies, remediation construction oversight, regulatory compliance, and human health risk assessments. He manages work and assists Clients on projects for contaminants including volatile organic compounds, petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, chlorinated hydrocarbons, pesticides and herbicides, and asbestos in soil, water and air. Mr. Nakamoto’s experience includes studies of groundwater resources and supply including well design and installation, well rehabilitation, and aquifer characterizations. He has filled key roles in Community Relations Plan implementations, coordinating with project stakeholders, and participating in public meetings to disseminate project information and advocate project goals.

Mr. Nakamoto is highly experienced in interpreting geophysical data from borehole electric logs, gamma-gamma and natural gamma logs, neutron logs and acoustic logs. He has designed monitored construction of zone specific multiple completion and nested monitoring wells, extraction wells, recharge wells, and injection wells.

Mr. Nakamoto is a California Professional Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist, and Certified Hydrogeologist. He also holds professional licenses in Oregon and Wyoming.

 
 
 
     
    Matthew A. Taylor
SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

Mr. Taylor has been employed in the field of environmental consulting since 1990. He has performed groundwater pumping tests, air sparging and vapor extraction pilot tests, and supervised construction, operation and maintenance of remediation systems. Mr. Taylor has also prepared hazardous materials management plans, spill prevention control and countermeasure plans, Risk Management and Prevention Plans, Risk Based Corrective Action plans, air discharge permits and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits. He has also completed numerous indoor air quality evaluation projects for Sacramento area hospitals, schools, commercial buildings, law firms and residential developments. Mr. Taylor is a member of the Groundwater Resources Association of California and the Sacramento Claims Association.

     
    Randy L. Wheeler
SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

Mr. Wheeler has been employed in the fields of soil and groundwater investigations since 1988. With our firm since March 2003, Mr. Wheeler has over 20 years of experience conducting all facets of Phase I and Phase II site assessments. These projects include a large variety of properties ranging from single-family residential developments to large-scale commercial and industrial facilities. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, Mr. Wheeler has performed Phase I site assessments for several community-wide projects, including the South Sutter County Specific Plan; the results of which were used to formulate project area specific plans with city and county agencies. Mr. Wheeler has conducted several Brownfields investigations for the City of West Sacramento under the EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant program, including the West Capitol Avenue Corridor Study, and the West Capitol West End Community Wide Assessment. Mr. Wheeler is currently managing the Brownfields Assessment Grant project for Yolo County’s Esparto Community Wide Assessment. His projects have also included Phase I environmental studies of several thousand acres of proposed mitigation lands in addition to performing Phase I and Phase II work on the former Union Pacific Railyard in West Sacramento. Mr. Wheeler is a Registered Environmental Assessor (REA) in the state of California and is a Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) in the state of Nevada.

 

   

Benjamin Mclernon
PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

Mr. McLernon has been with Wallace-Kuhl & Associates (WKA) since May of 2000. During a very short time as the CAD Manager for the drafting department, his dedication and genuine desire to improve productivity dramatically reduced job turnaround time. He also assisted project engineers with soil and core sampling for use in geotechnical reports and assisted in the completion of Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).

Mr. McLernon has brought this job dedication and experience to his current position within WKA as Project Environmental Scientist. Since 2001, he has completed numerous environmental projects in California’s Central Valley and Eastern Sierra Nevada foothills and mountains. As an environmental scientist with WKA, Mr. McLernon has worked on and/or been project manager for a broad range of projects including biological and ecological screenings, wetlands surveys, and assessments of soil, groundwater, and surface water for potential contaminants. Mr. McLernon has completed several ESAs which have included proposed school sites, community-wide assessments, industrial and commercial facilities, and large-scale residential subdivisions.

     
   

Mari O'Brien
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

Ms. O’Brien has been employed in the environmental geology field since 2004. Her assessment activities included conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, logging soil borings, conducting soil-gas surveys, monitoring soil excavation and sampling, and the design and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells.

Ms. O’Brien’s project management experience includes commercial projects for major retail development and residential subdivisions in both rural communities and downtown locations. Ms O’Brien routinely assists her clients by negotiating with regulatory officials to develop site-specific assessment and remediation goals, while maintaining tight fiscal control on project expenditures. Ms. O’Brien’s is also an active member of the Association of Engineering & Environmental Geology (AEG) and Groundwater Resources Association of California (GRA).
